My forest is full of berries: big juicy blueberries, bright red lingonberries. They look like candies. I snack on them while I’m wandering in the forest, taking in all the sounds and smells. I look up at the tall trees and wonder how many years they have stood there? I look down on the ground and spot a pine cone. I used to make silly little cows and horses out of pine cones when I was a little girl. 30 years ago.
Now I have a daughter and a son who both adore our little forest adventures: nature hikes and berry picking trips. We all eat berries like they’re candy: popping handfuls of them into our mouth, little hands and faces stained purple from all the juicy candies. We make funny animals out of cones, leaves and little twigs. We sit on top of a rock, we laugh, and eat more berries.
We’ve picked enough for now. It’s time to go home and bake blueberry pie. Hope you’ll stick around. I promise – it’s going to be delicious.
With love from My Berry Forest,
Tiina
